The Red Raiders played their first football game on October third, in the year of 1925. In this game, the final score was a tie of 0-0. In the last 20 seconds of the game, the kicker scored a 20-yard field goal, but the referee called it as being too late after the clock ran out. There is speculation that the referee purposely threw the game because he was angry that they didn’t give him the position of head coach when he had applied for it. Whether or not this is true, it is hard to say. However, it doesn’t look good in the ref’s case.
